Ahava

Ahava Dead Sea Laboratories, Ltd. is an Israeli cosmetics company specializing in products created from Dead Sea minerals. It was founded in 1988 after Ziva Gilad, a spa technician, witnessed female tourists collecting mud from the salt lake of the same name. Ahava offers a number of skin care options through its various product line, including facial cleansers, facial moisturizers, body creams and hand creams. It also options selections for normal skin, dry skin or sensitive skin, as well as products specifically designed for men and anti-aging. Ahava was launched in 1988 as a single stand that sold bottles of body scrub to tourists. In 1992, it began exporting its products to other countries, and in 1995, it launched its products in U.S. stores. In 1996, Ahava introduced its Dermud line of leave-on Dead Sea mud products. In 2005, Ahava launched its men's line and opened its first flagship stores in London, Berlin and Singapore. Ahava's products entered Sephora in France in 2008, and in 2009, it signed distribution deals with Nordstrom and Lord & Taylor. Ahava's lines were reformulated in 2009 to exclude harsh ingredients, as well as those tested on animals. In 2010, Ahava launched Mineral Makeup Care, a collection of foundations containing Dead Sea minerals. Ahava celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2013 by launching the Dead Sea Osmoter Concentrate, a serum developed to rejuvenate the skin.
